The Austin Chess Club will be instituting the following fee structure immediately (June 15, 2007).
- Each membership is $50.00 per year (no distinction between adult / junior / senior memberships).
- Family members of a current Club member may join at $15.00 per year. Note: family members must live at the same address to qualify.
- The Austin Chess Club is a private club. Membership is by invitiation from the Club Board.
- In the unfortunate event that the Board decides to rescind a membership, the paid dues of the member in question will be returned on a pro-rated basis, rounded down to the nearest month.
- Non-members playing in a Club event will pay a $5.00 surcharge for their entry fee to the event (for events with entry fees of $1.00, this amount will be $1.00). Non-members attending the Club and not playing in a Club event will be charged $5.00 per meeting attended. All surcharges collected will go towards defraying Club expenses. Newcomers to the club are allowed one free visit. Note: non-playing parents / guardians of players under-14 do not need to pay the non-member surcharge.
- The Club will retain 20% of all entry fees collected and use this money to defray Club expenses. The other 80% of entry fees will be returned as prizes.
- Please note: the Club Officers are volunteers; we do not receive any sort of stipend, pay, etc. All monies collected by the Club are used to pay the rent, pay for Austin Chess Club events (prizes, rating fees, USCF affiliate fees, etc.) and support chess-related activities sponsored by the Austin Chess Club..
